Another feldspar beneficiation project has been successfully implemented by the BAS team in Uzbekistan. Feldspar beneficiation processes may vary depending on the chemical and mineralogical composition of the feed ore and its intended application. Generally, the beneficiation process includes steps such as crushing, grinding, screening, classification, magnetic separation, dewatering, and filtration. As BAS, we provide the complete plant process flow diagram, all engineering work, and the correct magnetic separation steps on a turnkey basis, tailored to the specific mineral to be beneficiated (BAS® Micronized Na Feldspar Beneficiation Plant 20tph – Kormad Mining Ltd.Turkey – YouTube).
Feldspar is a valuable raw material in the manufacture of glass, ceramic, fillers, enamel frits, and welding electrodes. Feldspar is the single most abundant mineral in the earth crust and is generally associated with other silicate, titanium, and iron minerals. As a result, beneficiation of feldspar is necessary to obtain high-grade materials for industrial use. However, the beneficiation of feldspar ores from other silicate gangues is very difficult owing to their similarities in physical–chemical properties. Hydrofluoric acid (HF), which is the main regulator used in the flotation of feldspar, may cause serious environmental and health-related problems. Therefore, to satisfy the quality of advanced materials, the concentration of feldspar using clean and efficient methods remains a formidable challenge.
Magnetic separation technology is inevitable for feldspar beneficiation because non-magnetic feldspar is associated with magnetic gangue minerals, such as magnetite, hematite, rutile, white mica, pyrite, and tourmaline. The magnetism of gangue minerals in the feldspar is generally weaker. Therefore, separation can be improved only by using high-intensity magnetic separation equipment. In the beneficiation of feldspar ores, various separators such as the BAS High-Intensity Wet Electromagnetic Filter (Wet High Density Magnetic Filters – BAS®), BAS High-Intensity Electromagnetic Separator (Wet High Intensity Magnetic Separators – BAS®), BAS Roll Magnetic Separators (Perm Roll Magnetic Separators – BAS®), and BAS Wet Magnetic Drum Separator (Wet Type Drum Magnetic Separators – BAS®) are widely used to achieve high recoveries, high-quality products, and consequently, enhanced economic efficiency.
